Questions Regarding Up-Coming Surgery & MC?

Post by JessesMom »

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well :pigtail:
I have some questions regarding my upcoming Tubal Ligation on Thursday the 17th....
I'm having the surgery for the obvious reasons but I just wanted to check in with all of you and see if there's anything I should know/avoid before going in and having it done.

Basically they are going to
-Put me to sleep
-Fill my abdominal cavity with air/gas
-Make an incision in my belly button and one below somewhere
-Go in and put clamps on the tubes
-Close me up etc

So I guess my main questions would be is there anything that you know that I should avoid with this procedure. Such as mainly is it something that poses a risk to me as someone who has MC? Are there any medications I should ask them to avoid? What pain pills are ok for me to take afterwards?

I just want to make sure I'm walking into something that will make my MC worse/flare up. I know there are a lot of thing in life that 'normal' people can do that us with MC cannot so I'm wanting to cover all my bases before I go in and get this done. If anyone believe this is a bad idea for someone like me with MC PLEASE tell me, I will cancel the procedure if it means keeping my health well!

my suggestions:

- eat low inflammation well cooked 'plain' meals for the few days leading up to the procedure and for the few days after
- if Histamine/Mast Cell has been an issue for you, take antihistamines. Anesthetic is known to trigger bad histamine reaction.
- if you are taking Vit D3, increase the dose for a few weeks to help the body cope with the anesthetic, stress, disruption, etc
- to optimise healing post procedure, take Vit C, Magnesium, Zinc. (this will also help the gut if histamine has been triggered)
- relax and get good sleep.

hope all goes well
take care

I'm not aware of any reason why someone who has MC would not be able to tolerate that procedure. Tramadol and narcotic painkillers normally don't cause any MC problems, except that narcotic painkillers tend to be constipating, so if that becomes a problem you may need to take a stool softener.

Tylenol doesn't trigger MC reactions either, but don't exceed the labeled dosage, and don't drink any alcohol while using it, because of the risk of kidney damage in those situations.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
