quinoa

Post by Maryse »

Anyone out there for whom quinoa is an issue? My daughter has been on the Fodmap diet for 5 days and her diarrhea has gotten worse. Considering that she's gluten, dairy and soy free, the only thing I can think of is that the quinoa flour I've been using for baking is the culprit. Can't wait for the Enterolab results to hopefully shed some light on her issues.

Thanks!

Yes, some quinoa has been found to be cross-contaminated with gluten (buy kosher brands to avoid that problem), and some of us just seem to react to quinoa, for some reason or other, possibly because of the fiber.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I have read that the protein in quinoa is so similar to the protein in gluten that our body thinks it's gluten and makes antibodies. I can not use it.
