Excellent Medscape Article On Why So Much Research is Wrong

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Medscape (arguably the number 1 Internet medical information source trusted by medical professionals) has posted a very excellent article that discusses the reasons why such a high percentage of published medical research articles are wrong.

You have to log in in order to read Medscape articles, but IMO, everyone who is interested in their health should be a member of medscape, and subscribe to their newsletters. It costs nothing to register, and only your email address has to be entered (unless the requirements have changed since I registered years ago), and they won't spam you, or sell your email address to spammers.

It Ain't Necessarily So: Why Much of the Medical Literature Is Wrong

It's a four-page article so don't overlook the additional pages.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
