Cat D- tempted to share my entocort

Post by DebE13 »

Any cat like lovers out there have any tips for a kitty with a sensitive tummy? This is the kitten we rescued from below zero temps this winter. I went through kitten D and thought I solved the problem by putting her on Blue Buffalo grain free products. She has been doing fine but I noticed if I strayed with her diet and gave her Fancy Feast her stools would loosen up. I have two other cats that eat a combo of Fancy Feast wet food with Blue Buffalo dry food available at any time.

I decided my youngest must be like me and comparable to the idea that a little gluten would be ok. A little of the other food just isn't ok. It's been going on for a week and i stopped feeding her for a day then resumed with the hard food and one meal a day of rice/hamburger. She was starting to make progress and I thought it would be safe to give her the BB wet food again for one meal last night. Three this morning the mucusy D returned.

Is it possible she can only eat dry food? Are there pet meds for D? She is her normal self in all other aspects. It's becoming a real stressor for me which in turn upsets everyone else in the house. I don't want to give up on her.

Have you tried contacting Blue Buffalo? They might be able to help. I'm sorry you and your cat are having to deal with this.

That's a good idea, thanks. I am going to talk with my vet on Monday. He is a very down to earth guy who has the experience to troubleshoot issues without racking up a ton of bills.

My cat had inflammatory bowel disease. Perhaps he gave it to me. My vet gave him monthly vitamin B12 shots and it worked. Nothing else did.

Thanks for the advise! She ran away this past Saturday and is nowhere to be found. I am absolutely heartbroken and hope she returns. She was on antibiotics and has missed more doses than I can count. Doesn't seem right to have rescued her only to have this happen. We had a major plumbing issue this weekend that caused a pond in our basement and three holes in the concrete floor to remedy it. She slipped out the door unnoticed. Been a wreck ever since.

I know a greyhound adopter or two who have given Entocort to their dogs, so it may be possible to give it to cats too. How awful to have a missing cat; I know the feeling. Hope she comes back.

Thank you. Still no sign of her and it's getting cold. Sad that now my windows are shut and it's hard to hear outside noises. Have my fingers crossed.
