I'm a newbie
I'm truly excited to find your support group. I have a lot of reading to do!
I was diagnosed with CC in February and am struggling to get systems under control. Through two rounds of compounded steroids so far, but I keep relapsing.
Once I've read all the basics on the forum, I'm hoping to beat this on my own.
Thanks so much,
Jo

Hi Jo,
Welcome to our Internet family. Yes, the drugs only mask the symptoms, and as soon as their effect fades away, the symptoms return. The disease is caused by inflammation, and the only way to stop the inflammation from being continually regenerated is to remove from our diet all traces of the foods that cause our immune system to produce antibodies. Unfortunately, most GI docs still haven't figured that out, so their lack of understanding of the disease prevents them from being able to effectively treat it for the long-term.
Your experience is very common, and it's the main reason why we formed this discussion and support board over 9 years ago, so that we we can learn from each other, how to control the disease. Many of us have been in remission for many years, without ever taking any anti-inflammatory medications to treat the disease. If you are willing to make the diet changes necessary to stop the inflammation, you can get your life back, and hopefully you will no longer have any reason to be sad.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
