"High" on sugar & chocolate

Post by Lilja »

Hi,

My remission is good, but I'm only a human being.

So, yesterday afternoon I indulged myself with some chocolate, around 20 pm.

Well, I didn't manage to fall asleep until around 6 am, and I'm convinced that it was due to the chocolate.

I never had this problem earlier, so it's obvious that my body reacts in quite a different way now.

I have avoided all sugar, fruits high in sugar, pops, sweets and chocolate since October last year, so I can forgive myself.

I learn something new every day

Hi Lilja,

Chocolate keeps me awake if I have it after 5:00 pm. I have it before 5:00 pm (late afternoon.) I think you would say 17:00 hour.

Hi Lilja,

I wonder if it's the sugar or the caffeine.

I was used to drinking espresso morning, noon and after dinner, for years. No problem sleeping whatsoever. Well, when I had my three kids I was either pregnant or breastfeeding for 5 years straight and not drinking a single cup of coffee or espresso. I was so looking forward to drinking espresso again. Once I was done breastfeeding the last child I had a cup of espresso after dinner. I was awake the entire night! I could hardly believe it. So then I would just have it in the morning or afternoon, but pretty soon I was back to drinking espresso even in the evening and it would not keep me from sleeping at all. Once again, I gave up espresso drinking a year ago. I am sure I'd be awake all night if I had one now.

Love, Patricia

Hi Lilja,
I don't feel so alone anymore,
I have the same problem with eating chocolate, but I thought it was me ,I didn't know anyonelse who had this same problem. I guess it is part of MC too.
Oh but we can look at this in two ways, each bite we take of chocolate is a treat because we know if we eat too much it will keep us awake all night. and on the other hand if you need to stay awake all night for any reason, you can have some chocolate and not need to drink loads of coffee.. I don't like the taste of coffee so I pick chocolate Ha! to all you coffee lovers out there, I don't mean any disrespect.

Hi Patricia and Twirlitgirl,

I only have one cup of coffee and that's around 9 o'clock in the morning.

I ate a whole box of 100 kilograms... I think that is 3,5 oz.

Never again
