Hi Joan,
There was a discussion about that research a few weeks ago (Greengoddess posted about it on the second page of the thread at the link below):
http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20838
But that second link you posted is news to us, and an excellent reference, because it indicates that Cetirizine (Zyrtec) and fexofenadine (Allegra) showed no cholinergic effect either in test tube experiments or in real life. That implies that they were not associated with either Alzheimer's or dementia in that study. Furthermore, if I read that abstract correctly, it lists chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton) as showing cholinergic effects only in test tube experiments (on guinea pig trachealis muscle), but not on live rats. Since several of us have recently rediscovered that old antihistamine, that's certainly good news to see that there's at least a chance that it might be safe for humans (but not for guinea pigs ), also (despite the fact that it is included in Dr. Whitaker's list on this page):

Maybe some day they'll be able to afford human subjects for a similar study and we'll know for sure.
Thanks,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Some other drugs that can cause Alzheimer's
