Hi,
Friday night's most popular talkshow in Norway usually hosts celebrities, Beyonce, ABBA, ministers etc., but two weeks ago this young German medicine student, Giulia Enders (25) appeared on the show. At the age of 17 she got a wound on her leg that didn't disappear, and no doctor could heal it, so she decided to treat the wound as a gut disease. After having cut gluten and dairy of her diet, she finally got rid of the wound, and this was how her passion for the gut started.
She questions the lack of common knowledge about our intestines, and the long accepted tradition that medicine cure all diseases. She has become some sort of an icon, and no one in Germany has tried to silence her; neither the food industry, the media or the pharmaceutical industry. Her book "Gut with Charm" has been released in 23 countries.
I welcome more young people of her sort!
Here is a youtube clip from her performance in Science Slam Berlin, with English subtitles:

And also a lovely piece of advice:

Lilia,
I'm sure that she is on the right track, because the immune system is in control of all healing, and most of the immune system is located in the gut.
And thanks for the second link. That note was probably written by another future scientist, and I agree that advice even works with MC.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Lilia,
I happen to have the book written by Giulia, and you are right, she has become quite the phenomenon in German speaking countries. My parents who live in Switzerland saw her on TV, my Mom bought her book, and when I mentioned in fall that I was having gastrointestinal issues, she recommended it to me. I ordered it, it arrived, and I started reading it, days before I was diagnosed with LC. It is informative and written with a lot of charm and especially humor!! It is entertaining to read it. As soon as I was diagnosed, though, I put it aside, ordered Tex's book, read that front to back, started reading on this forum, and kind of forgot about Giulia's book. I should finish it at some point. It is easy to read and understand, but at the same time contains a lot of information that I was not aware of.
Love, Patricia
