MC and estrogens
Hi,
This study is interesting, at least to me.
I had just stopped taking estrogens in 2010, when CC rised its ugly head.
If I understand the study correctly, if we have used contraceptive pills and menopause estrogens, and then stop taking them, the decline in female hormons, estrogens and progresterone may cause MC in women. My menopause started when I was only 43 years old, and I was on estrogen patches for 20 years.
I hope I haven't misinterpreted the study.

Hi,
I used contraceptive pills from the age of 23 till I was 35 when I did a sterilization, due to age and divorce, and I already had to wonderful sons. Then 8 years after I switched to estrogens due to menopause, and stayed on estrogen patches for 20 years.
That adds up to 32 years with artificially added estrogen, estradiol and progesteron to the body...
I have never done the math untill right now. Of course, this must have had some impact on my health. Whether it lead to MC specifically, well that's the big question.
I can't do anything to change this now, but I hope that further research will give us answers.

The abstract for that article concludes:
At any rate, I disagree with that claim. IMO finding the associations between hormonal influences and MC is similar to diagnosing the disease itself — if you don't know how to diagnose the disease, you can't find it. And likewise, if you don't understand how to find the connection between hormones and MC, you won't find any connection.

I take that to mean that they could not find any credible evidence that hormonal changes affect the development of MC. Or am I interpreting it incorrectly? Thus, no obvious association between factors influencing sex hormone levels and presence of MC could be found.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Wow...... I started BCP when I was 16 and only went off them before I planned on getting pregnant and during my pregnancy (1994-95). I went back on them and continued until my husband had a vasectomy in 2006. I was concerned about the long- term use of them and thought I was doing a good thing by going off. It was in March of 2007 that my MC was triggered. Very interesting.

I strongly believe that there is a connection between hormones and autoimmune diseases.
I just heard on the radio of a young scientist who will defend her disputas March 19. She has found that by decreasing the level of "the executive sex hormone" gonadotropin, one can treat the symptoms of arthritis.
