Genova Diagnostics
I was sent a test kit by the Integrative Medicine people. They told me that I have to bring my test material to their local office and they will transport the tests to Vermont where the tests will be mailed. When I asked why, I was told that if I mail the tests from a NY address, Genova will not accept them. It makes me a bit uncomfortalbe that the tests are not allowed in New York. I am having the GI Effects Comprehensive Profile #2200. Any ideas about why these tests are not allowed in NY? Thanks.
DJ,
Years ago, the legislatures of New York State and Maryland passed laws that forbid their residents from ordering any tests from any laboratory. IOW, physicians have a monopoly on ordering tests in those states (their lobbyists obviously get the job done). The thoughtful legislators passed those laws in order to protect the citizens of their states, doncha know. Their reasoning being that their residents are too ignorant to correctly interpret test results and therefore might hurt themselves. Of course the fact that most test results come from the lab with accurate and correct interpretations is apparently irrelevant to the powers that be in those states. And the fact that most residents probably have more brains in their little finger than those legislators have in their heads is also lost on them. As Foghorn Leghorn used to say, "Don't confuse me with the facts, boy, I've already made up my mind".
Members of this board from those states can't order EneroLab tests either. Fortunately most of them have friends or relatives (or a reasonable facsimile) in adjacent states.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I think I understand; I live in a state governed by mischievous roosters.Where have you been all of my life??? Having this information sooner would have saved me a lot of puzzlement. On a more serious note, thank you. It's a pity that the specimens for my $500 test must be moved around states as contraband and possibly lose integrity, leading to a less accurate outcome. I'm not happy with the leghorns this morning.
