How Bad r your abdominal cramps right before the diarrhea?
Diagnosed in 2010 with LC, and am on my third major diarrhea flare. But this time I was floored by the intensity of the ab cramps that preceded the diarrhea. They came on suddenly about 45 minutes after I got into bed, and got worse as I sat on the toilet waiting for the diarrhea.
They were so bad I felt a bit nauseous and prepared to vomit by pulling over the waste basket. Vomit never came, but the pain was so severe I felt either shivery or heated (couldn't tell which it was). I was even moaning.
After about 8 minutes the diarrhea finally came, and even before it was all out, the cramping was gone. Even before it was time to wipe myself, it felt as though nothing unusual had happened.
I'm just wondering how many here have this severity of pain that's clearly associated with the diarrhea, then is gone once you've voided. The cramps have happened a few times before, but not this bad.
My question specifically is aimed at people who have ONLY MC, and no other digestive disease like diverticulitis/osis, IBS, gallstones, etc.

Hi Kristtene,
I can remember that feeling. I'm not 100% sure why I had hits like that, but I hadn't fully removed gf, Df, sf an egg yet, once I did all those bad cramps have gone. Is it possible you may have gotten something into your diet, or a new med or a beauty product that could have risen your allergen in the gut? Perhaps a high histamine situation. If you have been stressed lately or your body still cycles monthly hormones can be a bugger for the gut too.
I sympathize with you, I only have LC too.
Warmly
Erica

Hi kristtene,
I have only LC and I get extreme nausea with my "bad bouts", to the point of gagging. Then I eat "safe" foods for a few days to calm my gut. I'm new so still trying lots of different things.

Yeah, I had a few years with daily symptoms similar to your mention. There would be an intense immobilizing painful workup, cramps, and a feeling that I wanted to throw up, and then finally relief. Sometimes the gut attacks would wake me up in the middle of the night.
I had a few times we're I was sick all day with the intense abdominal pain, and doing what I could to make it to the rest room. I'd wonder where all the gas and cramps accompanying it was coming from. No fun, to say the least.
Thankfully the diet I've been on for awhile has kept those terrible episodes at bay, and fingers crossed the gut stays calm.
Hope you find some answers for yourself soon!

Before I was diagnosed with LC, I would be walking my dogs and the pain was so bad, I would fall to the ground doubled over. Once I ran to the woods and voided, the cramps would be gone. I think it's pretty common with this disease.
