Hi Sophie,
Yes, LC can go away, at least as far as the findings under the microscope are concerned. I had a negative biopsy myself after 10 years of restricted diet. However, we have learned that it can always come back.......especially with stress, antibiotics and other meds, and/or dietary indiscretions. I am wondering if enough biopsies were done - multiple ones from all different areas of the colon must be done, since LC is a "patchy" disease. You might want to request a copy of the biopsy report to see how many were done and from what locations.
The best treatment for your daughter, based upon what we have learned here, is to eliminate all gluten (and probably dairy too for now) from her diet. Have you tried that? Most docs don't know about the food connection, unfortunately.
Good luck!
