Microscopic Colitis - Collagenous and Lymphocytic by A.Tromm

Post by HappyBird »

Microscopic Colitis Collagenous and Lymphocytic is written by
Prof. Dr. A. Tromm, Klinik für Innere Medizin, Evangelisches Krankenhaus Hattingen gGmbH Akademisches Lehrkrankenhausder Universität Duisburg-Essen, Bredenscheider Str. 54
45525 Hattingen, Germany.

The thirty two page booklet is clearly written in plain language, its quick to read and easy to understand. The clear diagrams help with the explanation of types of Microscopic Colitis, which for me till now, were confusing. A must read for anyone interested in or suffering from WD, MC, CC and LC.

The booklet is contained in a downloadable PDF below.

This is very interesting, HappyBird!

I was surprised to read this:

The thickening of the collagen band in collagenous
colitis is not due to increased collagen formation
but to reduced collagen metabolism. The exact
mechanisms leading to reduced collagen
metabolism in the bowel mucosa have not yet
been fully explored, however. Nor is it known
whether and how the thickening of the collagen
band can cause the typical symptoms of collagenous
colitis.

I thought it was the opposite.

Thank you for sharing this. Not only for the informative information for the patient, but also as something I am also sending my insurance company.

Hello Lilja & Karen.......

My partner found this for me the other day and after reading it felt it should be shared. It certainly helped me to understand better.

Lilja, I am sure Prof. Dr. Tromm wouldn't mind hearing from anyone of us. Write to him and ask about that point you hi lighted. I don't speak German but most Euopeans in his position would speak English very well and a couple of other languages to boot. The Mediterranean's are the most linguistically talented, some speak as many as eight languages.

The booklet was written with he layperson in mind, the insurance people should be able to understand the contents perfectly.

It is not technically a book - it is a brochure

he does not provide any references for the statements that he makes, and some of them are not quite accurate based on the learnings of the couple of thousand of participants here over the past 10 years

so far as a brochure for new patients, or to give to family/friends who are interested, yes it provides a reasonable overview.

And one of my pet hates is the outdated statement that MC mainly affects women over 65....

The membership of the forum, the age of new people joining over the past 12 months discredits that statement...

Gabes, when you get the time and we have a time difference, I would like to speak with you. I am expecting a call today at 4:00 p.m. I am not expecting the call. I don't think he's a member on here, but I think he has read my posts. Maybe I'm getting paranoid, but I want to get your opinion on what to say. Thanks, Dorothy
