This Sounds Familiar - But Very Seldom
Hi all,
I was watching tonight's afternoon news, and a guy I know from my businesslife way back was this evening's "Saturday Guest". I had noticed that he had been out of all media for the last year, and thought that he had retired. But no.
His comeback was a story of dramatic health issues. First a heart attack, and then the diagnosis. I googled his diagnosis, and 90% of it seems quite familiar as to what I have experienced.
His disease, called Whipples, is due to a bacteria, Tropheryma whipplei, which gives symptoms that many of us can relate to.

Since we are all in the dark as to what causes MC, maybe this is worth looking into?

I dont think we are in the dark about what causes MC, based on the various stories here and the commonalities amongst the group we have a fairly good idea of what causes MC.Since we are all in the dark as to what causes MC,
the hard part is (for both patient and medical fraternity) there are different causes/triggers and this means there is not a one size fits all solution
reading about the whippples, to minimise villi damage, you need to avoid/mimimise inflammation.
and help the body overcome the bacteria. IMO, this is no different to E-coli, C Diff, SIBO etc treat the root cause then heal the gut.

Then I hope you can enlighten me, because I didn't know that we had a common understanding of what causes MC.Gabes-Apg wrote:I dont think we are in the dark about what causes MC, based on the various stories here and the commonalities amongst the group we have a fairly good idea of what causes MC.Since we are all in the dark as to what causes MC,
I have a feeling that you talk about how to treat MC, and that is good. My initial approach is more "How did it all start".

there a combo of things
- genetics
- infection (bacteria parasite etc)
- medications (SSRI's, Nsaids, antiobiotics etc)
- stress (including hormone fluctuations etc)
- ongoing inflammation in the gut / nutritional deficiencies
For those that have medication triggered MC, for most when they cease the troublesome medication the MC goes into a good remission
for those that had an infection that may have been the main trigger, if the infection is dealt with and leaky gut healed the MC goes into good remission
what we see most of the time, is people who have multiple major triggers, the process of getting inflammation under control, treating the root cause and healing is trial and error and takes time.

I do agree. But something has tipped the beaker, and this is what I try to find out.Gabes-Apg wrote:there a combo of things

I believe that all health is a fragile, harmonius interconnection. Until a "trigger" destroys it all. Whether it is due to medications, bacteria, environmental, stress...

i dont think a trigger "destroys it all..." our bodies sends us messages, we tend to put a bandaid on the messages - the symptoms - until they are chronic and cant be ignored. by then the inflammation, nutritional imbalances, toxins have caused alot of damage, disrupted alot of systems in our bodies (methylation, endocrine, nervous, lymphatic, immune, digestion etc etc etc)
recently i have started to ponder that in some cases MC is not the root cause, it is the symptom, one of many.
the imbalance to my various systems that caused MC to be triggered was linked to methylation issues, ongoing inflammation and excess toxins and near severe nutritional deficiencies and imbalances
over the past 2-3 years as I have chipped away at minimising inflammation, clearing toxins, and fixing the nutritional deficiencies and imbalances alot of my symptoms have reduced/gone!
good healing of my gut did not happen until i fixed the nutritional deficiencies

I have never suspected that MC is the root cause.Gabes-Apg wrote: recently i have started to ponder that in some cases MC is not the root cause, it is the symptom, one of many.
I thought we all here at the board had agreed to that?
Something triggers the onset of the disease, as I see it, as do probably the most of us.
