A bad week
Hi all, sorry I keep posting but what little comfort I get nowadays is from the input of others from this website.
Since Saturday morning I've gone from soft stools to outright watery explosive diarrhea and back to soft again. As if that hasn't been enough to put me in a poor state of mind I found a little bright red blood this morning , it looked like it was brushed onto a small bit of stool on one side and at the tip of another and I found more on toilet paper. Not sure if this has been caused by aggravating haemorrhoids by straining. I've mentioned this a while ago to my doctor as it happens from time to time , (only when I strain I think) she say's it nothing to worry about.
If you've already got GI problems the presence of blood is enough to cause panic however small or infrequent.

Jim, it definitely sounds like hemooroid. The good news is fresh bright blood is a better sign in the scheme of things.
Darker almost black blood is the one to be concerned about,
This is fixable...
Having had both hemooroids and anal fissures in my 6 year MC journey, I empathise with you. If MC is not sucky enough....
Coconut oil regularly applied to your anus etc will help. It helps skin heal, helps with passing of motions etc.
keep in mind that this will mark your undies and could mark cloths so yep... A liner would be beneficial.
As you embrace this concept, think like an astranaught about to do space walk, there is no shame I having to wear liners etc.
At the time my hemorooids were banded during a colonoscopy and healed well.
People said it was a painful treatment. Compared to dental issues and other things that have been part of my MC journey, it was not the worst.
The easier said than done aspect to this is getting your digestion /motility improved.
What are you doing diet wise, supplement wise, medication wise??
From what you have posted in the past couple of weeks, we need to get your inflammation levels down.
Are you sticking to the bland, well cooked, low amount of ingredients eating plan??
Are you taking Vit D3 and magnesium. ( magnesium will also help the emptying, and help muscles not to strain)

Hi Gabes im lactofree and gluten free . I had one transgression on the day the current bout started (cheese) but I can't believe 4 days later I'm still suffering for it!!.I have been taking magnesium tablets But nothing else , I see you recommend D3, is there any other supplement you recommend, something that may help with loose bowel movements and very noisy intestines. Also is tablet form for D3 and magnesium as bought from health store any good? Thank you again for taking time to reply. Jim

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks Tex have read the link , will have to see what's available over here in England with respect to some of the products talked about.
I would say reading it made me feel slightly fortunate as I tend to have around 50mins between bathroom visits during a flare up which is better than 30minutes Gabes states. Thankyou

Lactose free may not be enough while things are so inflamed, you may need to avoid dairy totally.
Dairy for anybody is a highly inflammatory item.
Too much magnesium orally can contribute to D issues, if you can source a spray or lotion, you can get high doses without risk to the gut. I buy mine online, i have it in small bottles around the house.
I have a system where I am getting 600-800mg of elemental magnesium per day via the sprays.
Vit D3, when I was really inflamed I used lingual drops, yes they were more expensive, albeit, I was absorbing it and getting benefit. Not sure what brands are in the UK, is there a compounding pharmacy nearby or a pharmacy that has naturopath on staff. These are generally the places you will find good quality, minimal additive, lingual type products

Hello Jimbo...........Jimbo1968 wrote: As if that hasn't been enough to put me in a poor state of mind I found a little bright red blood this morning , it looked like it was brushed onto a small bit of stool on one side and at the tip of another and I found more on toilet paper. Sorry to hear about he blood on top of the other problems. We all panic around blood so you should see someone if this persists. On a positive note, if the blood coats the outside of the stool and is bright red its often from a hemorrhoid, pile or small rectal tear from straining. The dark black stools, also called maleana stools, are the ones that cause more concern. The dark red tarry stools are from blood higher up in the GI tract is often from a bleeding ulcer.
Every two years I get sent a bowel screening kit. I think all UK residents over 60years can have them.
Link: http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/bowel-canc ... ction.aspx
They post a pack with return envelope and everything you need to take your poo sample. This test is for microscopic blood associated with bowel cancer.
Jimbo, perhaps you should see the GP to check for piles, you need to put your mind at ease and if it is piles get some suppositories to shrink them.
Hope you feel much better soon, and always come here to chat.
