Coeliac and EPI

Post by Jimbo1968 »

Hi all it has come to my attention that a disproportionate number of people who have EPI also have coeliac , not sure if it works the other way so that if you have coeliac your going to get EPI , that is my first question . My second question is both of these are dissorders with malabsorption so how do you tell you've got the other if you already have one.
By the way hope you are all keeping well

Hi Jim,

You're worrying about a problem that will take care of itself. Pancreatic insufficiency is quite common with MC because the pancreas often becomes inflamed when MC is active. Remember that MC can affect any part of the digestive system. After you get the inflammation in your intestines under control, and your gut does some healing, any pancreatic issues will resolve also.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
