Gift "Treasurer"

Post by Polly »

Mornin' All!

Well, Mars pulled a fast one on me and sent me a PM saying she has already put a check in the mail to me. So, if you wish, I will be the "gift treasurer" for now. Anyone who wishes to participate is free to send me a check. I will bank the $$$$$$ and then use it whenever we decide to send a gift to a Potty Person. No one is obligated to participate. And we will only send gifts for major life events, like surgery. (WE have had more than our share lately, haven't we?)

I have asked Mars to do a general (to all) PM mailing with my address. Of course, if anyone else would like to do this job, I will gladly hand over the reigns. Speak now or forever hold your peace! LOL! Shirley, are you interested by any chance?

Love,

Polly

Polly,

I hesitate to reply because I might be roped into something...

It's a great idea. I'm thinking that $10 would be a good amount to send. What do you people think? Polly will just have to let us know when we're getting low.

Hahaha

POLLY I have been pm'ing all over the place thinking how best to do this. If you don't want the task I'll gladly do it - but personally I think you'll do a great job

A "flower pot" is an excellent idea. My thoughts:
- contribution is optional, flowers/gifts when sent come from ALL of us
- a minimal amount of 10-15 dollars should begin a nice little pot
- a spread sheet can be made and anyone can have a copy anytime
- the flowers/gifts will only be sent for major life events

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Love Peg (aspiring to be the "Pot Head")

I like Peg's post. Sounds fine to me.

Polly,

I saw this thread this AM but didn't reply becuase I wanted to think it over. I was considering taking the job but the problem is that there will probably be some months at a time when I won't have internet service and will be out of the loop. I think the one in control of the "pot" needs to be available online at least most of the time.

When Bill returns to Pa. next spring, I'll probably end the "net" service here because we can't afford to have it at both places and he needs it to do his stock market stuff.

Therefore, I will be sending my check to you, Polly, and if someone else ends up treasurer, then you can send it all on to that person.

I really hate to refuse you, but I think I have to.

Peg,

I suggest that YOU do it. LOL! You already have a system in mind. Plus, I think it would be great if you would do it, since you are already our birthday moderator. I was concerned about 2 things though - whether or not you felt up to it yet and also, whether there would be any problem involving US vs Canadian dollars. But I just saw your PM where you mention that you have a US bank account. That's super.

So, tag, YOU'RE it!! I will forward to you any checks that folks have already mailed to me.

Love,

Polly

P.S. Shirley - thanks for thinking about it anyway!

My pleasure.

Another plus (I'll verify with her) is that we can have Momster as my back up.

Anyone who wants to contribute a small amount please let me know and I'll pm you my mailing address.

Hi Peg

I would love to contribute. I think it is a great idea.

How do I work this with my Aussie dollars. Can't do a direct transfer because I don't think we have branches of American banks here. Would a cheque from my building society be OK? If so, who do I make it out to? Could send cash money through the mail but you would still have to change it. Is that a problem?

I'm feeling pretty good. I'm weak, tired, and still hurting, of course, but asside from all that, I can't complain. LOL. Thanks for asking.

I think the "flower pot" is in the right hands! What a catchy name - I Like it!

I would love to volunteer but with work it would be impossible. I will gladly send off my contribution to Peg asap. I thought this would be a good idea and mentioned it and feel bad that I cannot be the moderator for it but Peg will do an awesome job.

Love, Maggie
