interesting article about dental health

Interesting article about dental health - what causes tooth decay..

http://www.westonaprice.org/holistic-he ... al-caries/
There seems to be good evidence that the elimination of sugar from the diet, and the provision of carbohydrate in the form of starch, affords a less favourable oral medium for the development of acid-forming organisms, and so protects the teeth against acid decomposition.

It appears probable that the provision of an abundance of vitamin D, either taken directly, or derived from the action of ultra-violet rays on the skin, exerts a favourable action on the immunological mechanisms in the oral secretions or on the epithelia of the mouth, and makes for preventing the growth of excessive numbers of acid-forming organisms.

I never had much luck with improving my dental health following Dr. Prices's ideas. I tried lower sugar in the diet (still do) , avoiding grains, taking activator X, vitamin D and vitamin A, avoid vegetable oils, etc. The big idea I took from his observation book was that once diets changed, becoming more western, in primitive societies terrible dental problems occurred along with poor health.

I and my dentist have noticed though that my gut health is linked with my dental health. Once the gut is doing well and healed, my gums heal up and I pretty much stop developing cavities. It was heavenly when that happened in the past!

An interesting part of the article was that adult teeth health is related to sugar, carbohydrate intake during childhood... And Vit A and Vit D intake

My interpretation is, once adult teeth are grown there is limited scope to 'rebuild them'

I think our body can also repair teeth as adults, to a lesser amount as you mention. That was something I believe Weston Price found out, and I think his name was Dr. Mellanby also was able to prove in some studies. It is good news I thought.

Yeah, found it, this is the article I remember seeing on this with mention on Dr. Price. I figure this is why my cavity situation improves greatly once my stomach digestion improves. I'm absorbing nutrients better is my guess.
