Zinc & DHA Labs test results

Post by Alohagirl »

Aloha - testing shows that I am low on zinc - it is 85 instead of in the range of 90-135.

Naturopath started me on Integrative Therapeutics Zinc-Carnosine which has 16 mg Zinc & 75 mg zinc-carnosince (PepZin GI brand).

I took it with dinner and got loose BM that evening and D the next AM.

Should I have opened the capsule and used less?

Is this the right type of zinc for MC people?

Other info on this test was 129 which is 32% free copper (should be 25% which is 70 to 110) and ceruloplasmin 29 (test range is 19 to 39)

Any input is appreciated!
LC, strong reaction to cola, squash and D & C Orange #4; moderate reaction to sugar cane, sulfite, sardine, flaxseed, coriander, black-eyed peas and FD & C Blue #1. Enterolab Anti-gliadin IgA 6 units.

Aloha!
From the info on the web, i cant see any issues with this product
it is gluten free, soy free, corn free, dairy free and good quality zinc derivative

keep in mind it is very common for MC'ers to react to new items
also Zinc is used by the body to clear toxins/excess metals, and this will also cause loose motions

Your low zinc, high copper and high unbound copper is similar situation to me with Pyrolle/kryptopyrolle. this also aligns with the low B6 issue you wrote about recently
High dose zinc and B6 is used to clear the excess unbound copper
here is an article about eliminating copper

Zinc

Post by Alohagirl »

Hi Gabes - I hope I am replying the right way...thanks for the info - I will read that article.

I guess the trick is that I will go slower with the zinc.

My naturopath wants me to take dosages higher than I am comfortable such as with the D3 - 4000 but I seemed to start noticing increased anxiety with 2000. It is a slow process.

Just a quick question about Vitamin A. Do many MC people supplement with that? I think it is related to the pyrolle & ceruloplasmin level.

I stopped the Vitamin A after one tiny drop gave me an upset stomach - Biotics Research Bio-Ae-Mulsion Forte with gum arabic & d-alpha-tocopherol. I thought I saw on the website that is in sesame oil but I do not see that on the bottle. One drop is 12,500 IU which is 250% of RDA. I know that people 'OD' on vitamin A so I am really not interested in taking this. I mentioned this to her twice (fear of 'OD' as my sister got sores in her mouth from vit A) and got no response. She just told me to apply to he anal or vaginal mucosa - sounds fun : ( so it would avoid upsetting the GI track.

Any input? Thanks in advance!

Aloha
re the Vit A - do you realise that this ingredient gum arabic & d-alpha-tocopherol. is Soy.
You can get good levels of Vit A by food, ie Sweet potato.

that is a bit surprising about the higher dose of Vit D causing anxiety.... Let me research that.

If magnesium in the diet is not adequate, but calcium is adequate or better, increasing vitamin D will cause an increased draw of magnesium from reserves (calcium depletes magnesium if vitamin D is adequate or better). If magnesium reserves are inadequate, than a deficiency of magnesium in the blood will occur. Magnesium deficiency causes anxiety symptoms. Been there, done that.

Obviously the solution is to take more magnesium or reduce the intake of calcium. But reducing calcium intake is counterproductive for osteoporosis prevention.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

bit of research and to expand on what Tex has said about Magnesium

saw some articles that say if taking Vit D3 causes anxiety then do the following;
Take magnesium
Take the Vit D3 at breakfast
Take it with saturated fat
Take it with Vit K
Take it with Vit A
