Gabes - baby lambs

Post by Gabes-Apg »

before lamb is super tasty, it is super cute!

I am very lucky that I rent a small flat that is part of an operational farm, not only am I surrounded by native birds, the farm has cattle, the owner also breeds lambs, mostly for eating by him and his extended family, and it has 30 free range chickens (chooks)

some of the older sheep are tame, and will eat carrot peelings from my hand. whenever i go into the sheep/chook grazing area (about 20 metres from my back door) they (the chooks and the sheep) all come running and follow me around as I go there every couple of days with all my vege peelings.

2 days ago, 3 lambs were born, and in the next few days more will be born.
some happy snaps - most of them are average quality as it has been raining, and I didnt want to get too close and upset the mums

Lilja
living here has more positives than negatives

the 2.5hr each way drive to my functional doctor is not ideal and makes for an exhausting day for me (and she is always running late)
and when the power goes out during storms, we have no running water! (not good for a MCer)

Absolutely beautiful pictures Gabes! And so beautiful that they eat from your hand. I reckon I would have no problems eating the chickens but I don't like to think that my roast leg of lamb is related to those cute babies in any way. Yes I am a city sook

awww those are adorable !

What a fantastic life to have that right out your door. I would find that all very healing. I prefer this lifestyle to city life.
I could never eat those sheep even if my stomach would let me !

at the moment - we are eating one of the lambs that was in those photos!!

I love having the native birds, the farm animals and other photography topics etc 'at my back door'
