Proof Positive that Absolutely Nothing is Impossible

Post by tex »

Ok, before you go any farther. Heed This Disclaimer!

If you are offended by bizzare and disgusting stories, please read no further, as this is the weirdest and most disgusting thing that I believe I've ever encountered in my entire life, (and it contains offensive language, to boot).

Ok, now that a team of wild horses couldn't tear you away, here's the story, but don't say that I didn't warn you. LOL.

In case you're wondering, this is not fiction, and it is not detail-enhanced, it is the absolute gospel truth.

We all know that 10 days ago, I had a colostomy, which means, specifically, that my colon was disected, at the Sigmoid region, and diverted to an opening in the side of my abdomen wall, where all BMs are now collected in an ostomy bag. Presumably, the other end was sewn shut. Hopefully, in about 6 months, more or less, the proceedure will be reversed, and reverted back to the normal, original arrangement.

Yesterday, a time or two, I noticed a feeling as if I needed to have a normal BM. Since the surgery, once or twice, I noticed a discharge of a small amount of mucus, but nothing more. It's not surprising that the remaining section would still produce mucus, since it's still a living, functioning section of colon. Anyway, I ignored the urge, and chalked it up as sympathetic feelings by the severed organ. I understand that people with severed limbs, sometimes feel as if the detached part is still there, and the feeling can be quite strong.

Today, the feeling was back, only much stronger. Since I'm not stupid, (I realize that it's completely disconected), I just continued to ignore it.

After cleaning up, and changing clothes, it finally dawned on me that my anus wasn't just whistlin' Dixie, (and maybe I was stupid, after all). Sooooooooo, the next time an urge came along, I dutifully plopped down on the throne, and did my duty. It's difficult to convey the amazement I felt, when, (along with some minor stuff), I passed a turd at least an inch in diameter. This, out of an anus, neutered by surgery, 10 days ago. Talk about slow motility! Since then, I've had another episode, though not as eventful.

The only logical explanation I can come up with is that obviously, the surgical team didn't bother to completely purge that section of colon before finishing the job.

The bottom line, though, is indelibly printed in my mind's eye, forever. Absolutely nothing is impossible!

I told you it was weird and disgusting. LOL.

Wendy,

As a matter of fact I did, but that was because I just had another "normal" BM, a pretty substantial one, so I had to partially remove my clothes, anyway.

Yeah, at first I wondered if there might be a problem with the modified plumbing, but so far, the ostomy is working beautifully, (as beautifully as something that does a job of that sort can work). LOL.

It is kind of funny, in a weird sort of way.

Well, I started the day, with another session on the throne. Sigh. If I recall correctly, I had to run to the bathroom at least 4 times yesterday afternoon. I can't believe I'm having to waste so much time in the bathroom. I'll be glad when this phase is over. I still find this whole routine, unbelievable.

Mrs. Columbo,

I'm glad I went to bed early last night. If I had read your post last night, I probably would have had nightmares, such as you described. LOL.

Luv,
Galahad

Hi Tex

That's what I say as well Holy you know what. Wayne I would be contacting a medical person about this. I was under the impression that the other end was closed with a colostomy. Maybe it is different with a temporary one. In any case it doesn't seem right. Wouldn't be any harm in checking it out. Thought the idea of the stoma anyway was to allow the rest to heal. Just a thought.

Hi Liz,

Surely it's just stuff that they didn't clean out during the surgery. Since it was emergency surgery, there was no opportunity to clean out beforehand.

It's agravating, but surely it will end in a day or so. I'll call and ask about it, if it doesn't end soon. I'm just thankful that nothing escaped into my abdominal cavity, to cause an infection, as that would be extremely serious.

Love,
Wayne

Hi Wayne

That was what I was thinking. That if there is still stuff there for all that time it could become quite serious. It would not do any harm just to have it checked out.
When I had the septisemia after my op the main thing they were worried about and checked out when I first went into hospital again was leakage from the join.
