This topic may have come up before, but as I was browsing the web, I found an interesting test you can do at home to find out whether you are reacting to certain foods, supplements, personal products, cosmetics, and even some environmental toxins! It was developed by Dr. Arthur Coca in 1956 in an (apparently successful!) attempt to find out the cause of his wife's health issues. He suspected food allergies, and he was right! The concept makes sense to me!
Anyway, I wondered whether or not anyone has tried this? It couldn't hurt, and could, in fact, be a useful tool in our MC toolbox. It tests your body's reaction via increase in pulse rate, so it's FREE, and can be done AT HOME! You get your pulse base-line, then try different foods (or apply a small amount of a lotion, etc.) one at a time, holding it on your tongue for a short period of time (not swallowing), then re-measuring your pulse. When the body is stressed or reacting to something that isn't good for it, or something that triggers an inflammation response, your pulse rate goes up noticeably.
Here's one link with a good explanation and a download for a useful chart that already has filled in quite a few common food allergens: http://www.saintcloudchiropractor.com/i ... p?p=251865 . (If the link itself doesn't work, you can copy and paste it in your browser. You can also, of course, google Coca Pulse Test.)

this is kinesiology based type testing.
some acupuncturists do it, some chiropractors do it, and wholly trained kinesiologists do it
there are a few here here have used practitioners to check for food sensitivities /supplement sensitivities (Nancy, Kari come to mind)
I have had contact with practitioners with this ability for 14 years or more.
my current chiro/kinesiologist uses this and this is how we check on dosage levels etc (and how we confirmed that i needed a stronger more absorb able magnesium ) and yes, i have come to my appointments with various food ingredients that we test, are they are a yes or no....
it comes into my category of 'listen to your body' - I like using a practitioner as sometimes they can tell me the 'Why' the body is rejecting it
some previous discussions (from the natural therapies area)

Hi Gabes,
Thank you! My current ND taught me "muscle testing", using body kinesiology also. This involves holding the substance in both hands against your body just under the breastbone, and asking questions such as "is this product good for my health", "how much should I take, 1, 2, 3, etc." The science involves the body moving forward for a "yes", and backwards for a "no".
This test is different from what I've previously been taught, relying on changes in the pulse alone. Both versions are definitely "listening to your body"!
