Hi,
"We suggest that the concept that psoriasis is an autoimmune disease based on molecular mimicry (4,6) is too narrow"
I know that we have at least one member, Jonas from Sweden, that has psoriasis like myself. This study discusses what starts psoriasis, and it surprises me to read that they suspect both Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. I got psoriasis after a severe throat infection back in the 70's. I also had a lump under my arm filled with yellow staphs, 2 years ago.
This article also discusses the link between psoriasis and Crohn's disease:
"There is a known clinical relationship between both Crohn’s disease (CD) and periodontitis, and psoriasis, and patients with psoriasis share mutations in some innate immunity genes with individuals with CD. It is now accepted that CD is due to a breakdown of immune tolerance (dysbiosis) to bacteria in the intestine. These findings suggest that psoriasis is initiated by an abnormal response to bacteria in the skin due to genetic factors."
