Hi Everyone

I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis during investigations for unexplained weight loss. I am lucky that I don't suffer from D but have a constant throbbing in my abdomen and have lost 14kg in weight in a year. I am a Brit currently living in India. I was wondering whether anyone could give me any advice on natural ways to help/cure this condition please? Thank you

Hello K,

Welcome to our Internet family. Most of us here control our symptoms primarily by diet changes to avoid the foods that cause our immune system to produce antibodies. There is a section here that contains some guidelines for recovery, including diet suggestions You can find it at the link below:

Guidelines for Recovery

Also, the Microscopic Colitis Foundation website has a download available with guidelines for selecting foods for a recovery diet. Here's a direct link to the download:

Some gastroenterologists mistakenly believe that the only possible GI symptom of LC is D, but many of us have either C or alternating C and D if/when our disease is active. For patients who do not have D, the medications typically prescribed for treatment usually do not help, and they often make the situation worse by causing C. In that case, the only option for controlling the symptoms is diet changes to avoid the foods that cause the inflammation. But that's the best option anyway, because taking medications for the rest of our life can cause all sorts of long-term health problems. And trying to live with LC without controlling the inflammation is never much fun.

Again, welcome aboard and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
