I just got back from a very frustrating visit to the dermatologist. I once again have my rash going on four days now. My face feels like it's on fire and itches. I tried getting in yesterday when it was at its worst and couldn't. The doctor did not even examine my face and stayed about four feet away from me, where at that distance you can't see what's going on. I told her something in the garden and the sun seems to bring it on. She asked what I used to wash my face, in which "water" was my reply. My doctors orders consisted of stay out of the sun, wash face with water, and use a sunscreen with zinc. I told her I don't wear sunscreen because of the chemicals. She advised Vaseline for moisturizing because that is natural. I told her it's petroleum based and I wouldn't use it. I use coconut oil. She added that to the doctor's orders. I did accept the script for a hydrocortisone creme as a last resort to ease my uncomfortableness. The OTC like d doesn't work nor does Benadryl.
All in all, it was a very expensive visit only to be told to do what I have already been doing. I can come back when it's active for a biopsy. (It's active now if she would have looked)
I guess I shouldn't be so upset since doling out more chemicals is what they are trained to do.

I'm sorry that you were unable to get more help. I suspect that the main problem is that our doctors really don't know nearly as much about these issues as they should. We spend more time studying and researching our own health problems these days, so in many instances we tend to know more about them than our doctors. And to add insult to injury, medical services in general are slowly but surely being priced out of reach of more and more Americans.
In my part of Texas, more and more people who previously had good insurance are now unable to afford insurance because they cannot afford the huge deductables and copays. The insurance is virtually worthless. And then the icing on the cake is that they have to pay the government a penalty because they cannot afford the "affordable" insurance offered to them.
