I'm still trying to find a good face wash for acne...but majority of them have xanthan gum in them. Is this something I should be concerned about? I don't know if I am sensitive to it or not in foods...
This is the list of all the ingredients, if anyone sees anything else alarming, I would appreciate if you could let me know
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, PPG 15 Stearyl Ether, Glycolic Acid, Glycerin, Polysorbate 60, Steareth 21, C12 15 Alkyl Lactate, Cetyl Lactate, Cocamidopropyl PG Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Panthenol, Cucumis Sativa (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Menthol, Benzalkonium Chloride Solution, Yellow 5, Green 5, Blue 1 (CI 42090), Fragrance
Should I be concerned about Xanthan Gum in face wash?

Rachael,
The xanthan gum probably wouldn't be a problem. There's some question about the alkyl lactate and cetyl lactate. C12 15 alkyl lactate is a synthetic compound derived from lactic acid, and cetyl lactate is an ester of lactic acid. Lactic acid is created by fermenting lactose.
I doubt that they would be a problem, but anytime a product contains so many ingredients, assessing the risks is pretty much a guessing game.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
