What is a "safe" anti-inflamatory?
I need to call the doc today about this pain in my shoulder. It is no better and is becoming a bother!
I have a feeling he will want to put me on an anti-inflamatory and I want to be sure he does not give me something that will irritate the CC.
He really tires, but I don't think he knows much about this disease. I have to educate him everytime I go in. At least he is willing to listen!!!
Thanks for the help everyone - gotta call soon so I hope someone has some adivce!!!

Okay, I can't remember how far along you are in your recovery from MC here, but I have found that I do okay with short doeses of various NSAIDs despite the no-no warnings. And my MC was triggered by ibuprofen (which I have not taken since my MC diagnosis). I took vioxx for about a year for menstrual cramps, but it stopped working. Now I take prescription strength Naproxen. I don't take it for more than a day or two though. But I would suggest if he things an NSAID is the way to go, take it for the shortest course possible (maybe 3-4 days or less), take prescription strength so you are minimizing the number of pills you have to take (my old gyn thought this was advantageous) and follow the recs for eating something when you take it...and something non-mc triggering would be my suggestion...ie. not toast or milk (if those are sensitivities for you, but maybe a banana, or some meat...just throwing out ideas here).
Good luck.
Katy
Good luck.

Hi Mars!
Unfortunately, I don't think there is any "safe" anti-inflammatory for us. This comes up again and again, and we never seem to hear about one. I'd go with Katy's recommendation - very short-term NSAIDs.
I have been able to do that on occasion.
Be sure to describe your symptoms to your doc. Your pain could be due to other things, like a lung problem. Are you having any breathing difficulties or other symptoms? How about pain due to computer use? I get that sometimes, although it's usually in my left front chest or right arm.
Hope you feel better soon.
Love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Started about 4:15 yesterday - have had this before. Feels like there is inflamation where my lungs can't expand fully. The pain is staying in one spot.
If you have had abdominal surgery and had the pocket of air in your shoulder - (gas?), that is exactly how it feels! PAINFUL! The pain is in the front and back of the shoulder.
I will call doc and see if he can give me something if the NSAID over-the-counter don't work soon.

shoulder stuff
Hey Mars, when's the last time you were anesthetized? Curious, because whenever I have that, it "cracks" certain bones it shouldn't normally.. because they fill you up with gas so they can see stuff inside.. last time, it was my sternum (breast bone) - now when I move my arms a certain way, it cracks. NOT cool, but I've learned to live with it..
You also had mentioned previously (I think I saw it on another post) that you had a bubble there? I'm wondering if that's still there?
Christine

nope - no anesthetic in a long time.
Bubble is my description of it - same feeling as when had abdominal surgery and that is the way the nurses described it.
They told me then that the only way to get it to move (the bubble of gas) was to walk it off! Yea, right - I'm at work!
Christine - elbow, shoulders and arm pain don't go well with computer work, do they? My problem too! Hope yours ease up soon.
