Help needed with LDN research for Dr. appointment
This area (Olympic Peninsula, WA) has had an extreme Dr. shortage, finally we're getting some new ones. My former PCP left the practice, so I had an opportunity to try a new one, and want to hit her with enough research on LDN so she might give me a prescription. Last year I tried 4 or 5 doctors, none would prescribe it, so got it through alldaychemist and compounded it myself. It seemed to be working, so went to a naturopath , paid $170 for a visit, and have been having Skip's do it. It hasn't been a panacea, but definitely has helped, love the energy level.
I know a lot of our members have found research that convinced their doctors that it was beneficial, so would appreciate any information that might help me with this.
I've been wanting to let everyone know that my husband, Dave, died 9/25. He had a heart attack, was taken first to Port Angeles, then by helicopter to Bremerton, died in about 24 hours. The only positive thing I can say is that I got to go on the helicopter, it was an incredible thrill, for being under such horrible circumstances. The doctors and staff at Harrison Medical Center are unbelievably wonderful. Almost 55 years, pretty tough to handle, family has been wonderful.
But back to LDN, any help will be appreciated.

Bev,
I am so so sorry for your loss, and under stressful circumstances....
I have put a note on the Facebook page of the PP-LDN members about this request, and hope that one of them chimes in with links to some up to date info....
Take care.

Beverly,
l'm very sorry that you have had such a huge loss, but it's nice to hear that you've had such wonderful support.
I don't use LDN, but here are some items that you might find very helpful before talking with your doctor.
How To Talk to Your Doctor about LDN
Here is a link to an article about some published clinical trials:
Clinical Trials for LDN
Here's a link (that I had bookmarked) to a research article about using LDN to treat chronic pain:
The use of low-dose naltrexone (LDN) as a novel anti-inflammatory treatment for chronic pain
I hope that your new doctor will be very supportive.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Beverly, I too am so sorry for your loss. But such good news to hear that the medical support was so positive for you.
I've been on LDN For almost a year. I found a Face Book group that has been very helpful....
......IBD and LDN Chat Group.....We GUT hope
Michelle Moore is the administrator and is very knowledgeable and supportive.
Most members of the group have Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's and as Tex has said, the treatment is different with MC. That said, there are posts about research and personal stories and links to LDN studies. I gained confidence in dosing and reactions and got a lot of support.
