I put my back out and took Advil. What a mistake. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Virginia,

Unfortunately, like most of us, if you react to Advil, you will react to all NSAIDs. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) doesn't affect MC. Tramadol usually doesn't affect MC, and the narcotic painkillers don't trigger a reaction. In fact, the narcotic painkillers cause the opposite problem — they tend to cause constipation and they carry a significant risk of impaction.

Some members claim that they had some degree of success with topically-applied analgesics (even NSAIDs) applied at the site of the pain.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Ice packs and bags of frozen peas work well too!

For chronic back pain issues, I recommend looking into Low Dose Naltrexone.
