Safe BBQ sauce

Post by LauraAnn »

I have been using this sauce for several months with great success and thought I should pass it along. I have been using it on my baked pork ribs and baked chicken wings and everyone loves it. No tomato catsup or onions!

1 cup prepared mustard
1/2 cup molasses ( I use maple syrup)
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup honey
1 Tbls oil (I use olive)
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne (optional)
1/4 tsp of oregano and thyme was in the original reception, but I never use them because I don't like them)

Combine all in a saucepan. Bring to boil over high heat stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes.

This is enough to cover 2 racks of ribs, so I usually cut this in half. Yummy!

Thanks, Laura! My husband likes to bar-b-que and it will be nice not to hear "oh, you can't eat that."

I just read your recipe for bbq sauce and was wondering if this would keep in a covered jar in the refrigerator for a while.

I would think so. There’s nothing in it to require immediate attention. I mentioned I usually cut it in half for my purposes so that I don’t have leftovers. Also, it so super easy to whip up.
