I'm still plugging away on Stage One, down to 1 budesonide every other day now.
A friend sent me this article. I don't know how much truth is in it though it sounds plausible and certainly disturbing. The author does put in a plug for a flour blend.

Hi Susan,
Here and there there's a smidgeon of truth in that article. But the author is obviously either naive or she's more than a little bit dumb. She's certainly not a scientist. Celiac disease was described 2,000 years ago. Glyphosate was invented roughly 50 years ago. While glyphosate may or may not cause health problems (so far there's no proof that it does), it most certainly was not the cause of celiac disease for the 1,950 years before it was invented.

The person making this claim Keith Lewis I would have to call Foul on. I am not sure what part of the US he lives in but in South Eastern Washington State where I live I have never seen the farmers applying Roundup prior to any harvest I've bared witness to and I've lived here all my life and even rode combines and bank outs while harvest was in session. Farmers don't drive in their fields prior to harvest and I do not see airplanes delivering round up to fields prior to any harvesting. I do see air planes applying Herbicide for broad leaves when the plants are in their mid green stage before they head out.I have been a wheat farmer for 50 yrs and one wheat production practice that is very common is applying the herbicide Roundup (glyposate) just prior to harvest. Roundup is licensed for preharvest weed control. Monsanto, the manufacturer of Roundup claims that application to plants at over 30% kernel moisture result in roundup uptake by the plant into the kernels. Farmers like this practice because Roundup kills the wheat plant allowing an earlier harvest.
The reading I have done about gluten isn't good or bad but the Zonulin https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3384703/ has a role in our immune gut response to gliadin, so I am leaning on the side that gluten impairs us at some point and for me it could have been at the start of going thru Perimenopause, I honestly don't know what did it.
I will say I wish I didn't have to experience this during my life though
Cheers

Erica,
Thanks. I wondered about that too, because I've been growing wheat for over 50 years now and I've never used Roundup on wheat, nor have I ever seen it done in this part of Texas.
Just because a product is labeled for some purpose doesn't mean that farmers are going to use if for that purpose. They're in business to make a living, not to make Monsanto rich.

Your welcome Tex,
For most the of the roundup uses I have seen, are pre-emergence and light dose so not to affect the tiny plant but to kick other offending plants to the side if needed to allow for the wheat stalk to mature properly. For the most part it could be during that application that the roundup gets into the wheat kernel. I've also seen roundup used as a perimeter weed killer (as my husband uses it to knock out grasses and weeds that grow into our fences, and he also seems to be adept at killing at least one or two of my dainty plants in my flower garden too!!)
I would so love to be able to eat products that contained wheat again, it had the ability to make things palpable, (but then sugar is a candidate for that too, moderation certainly is the code word here).
