JFK had colitis?

I came across this in the Atlantic website having watched an enjoyable series on the Kennedys on Netflix. It appears that among numerous horrid health problems he had colitis. And food allergies. His wife said his colitis was were being made worse by the antihistamines he took for them. It's kind of interesting that food allergies were even considered but I suspect that the shed load of other drugs were no doubt worsening the Gastro problems. It doesn't say what kind of "colitis" it is.

Hi Green,

In addition to the colitis I've also read that he probably was undiagnosed celiac. He was an extremely sickly child.

I believe he was on a lot of drugs/treatments that we would consider pretty barbaric now.

I remember reading the former President was placed on steroids for the stomach problems. That was used to explain why he put on the weight, and had a puffy face.

Apparently Elvis experienced similar, with stomach issues, taking steroids and putting on weight.

Green, interesting article. I'd read it in the past but it was good to read again. He clearly had a lot of ongoing health issues but certainly didn't let the colitis or other health issues get him down.

JFK didn't have this forum! Sadly his health would have eventually failed him.
