Ketogenic Diet

Post by MCT »

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has followed a Keto diet to control symptoms? I've been doing water fasting for healing and found it easier to do after eating Keto for a couple of weeks. I've been fairly low carb(100-150grams) for several years but never ketogenic until recently and I have noticed it's very anti inflammable for me. I think I've read most post on here and haven't seen much on this.

there are quite a few that have followed keto eating principles and flourished.

good idea is to use search function to find previous discussions
on an initial search I found these that may help you

Jeans reply in this thread has some good links about eating keto type eating plan

I did read over the weekend that following keto eating plan does use more magnesium, so please ensure you are getting enough magnesium
and there is a transition period as the body adjusts to the changes so you may feel worse before you feel better

Thanks Gabes
I shall read. I plan on going in and out of Keto but still stay low carb. My mag is on point so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm just over the moon with the effects I receive follow this way of eating.

I've been following a low carb ketogenic diet for years now. It is the combination of this low carb ketogenic approach with the avoidance of my food sensitivities which has been the key to my success. Switching in and out of keto can create problems because the body is constantly switching between being a sugar burner and being a fat burner and the transition state is what causes what is called the "keto flu". My experience is that once my body adjusts to burning fat for fuel I am better off just staying with that way of eating.

Hi Jean,
I have been low carb for a long time but just recently have pushed Keto. When I started checking I noticed a few to many grams of protein could throw me out and not consuming enough fat could do the same. So when I say in and out of ketosis I don't plan on consuming very many carbs but just not as diligent at keeping track of all the macros. I'm pretty sure I've been dipping in and out of ketosis most of the time but not at therapeutic levels. Does that make sense? I received a ketonics breath tester so I've been playing with it and was surprised how hard you have to work at it but when I got there it was amazing. My carbs in the past averaged 35 to 150 grams but mostly around 40.
