Pregnancy and MC

Post by PoodPiper »

Well, about 2 month ago I came to this forum for the first time following my diagnosis of Lymphocytic Colitis. I've been taking Entocort 9mg, Trying to adapt my diet and have been doing fairly well. My partner and I have talked about trying to conceive for a while, but we were going to wait until I was healthy and out of the flare/med free. I guess life doesn't always go to plan (especially if you're not too careful) because I just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant, and I am over the moon!

I have started to taper my meds, and am now going to be 100% strict on diet to keep myself and baby healthy. I know it's still early and things can happen, but I'm going to try my best to make my body a healthy environment for our growing miracle!

Does anyone have certain diet tips, safe prenatal vitamins, etc for MC and pregnancy?

I have been having a lot of cramping , which has me a little worried but have read that it is normal with first trimester, and I'm assuming having an IBD doesn't exactly help the matter I'm having a hard time distinguishing MC cramps from whatever else may be going on in my body right now! Haha , can anyone ease my mind?[/list]

Hey there,

Congratulations! I know others will chime in but I would make sure you are getting magnesium at least topically and if you can orally. The RDA for women is 350 mg but with an IBD and pregnancy I think it should be at least 500 mg. I require 700 mg of ReMag. There is a sticky on magnesium with good info at the top of the page. Let us know if you have questions. Of course a good amount of folic acid is also a good idea. I've never been a real big fan of prenatal vitamins. There is a lot of ingredients and most of the vits are poorly absorbed. Maybe some of the other gals have taken a good one for their pregnancy. The recovery diet is great for a growing baby and new mom!
