Has anyone had improvement with D by taking Metamucil? I saw many post on here that it is not a smart option...but wondering if anyone had success with it. On the fence about even trying it after reading some of the posts.
Just met with a new GI yesterday and after learning that I had MC he said "this will be a easy fix" and suggested Useris. Since I am 6 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding I am not open to taking any medications like that at this time but again was wondering if this medication was effective for any of you? He then suggested the metamucil as a starting point instead....my other GI said low fiber diet and this doc is suggesting to add fiber to my diet. Feeling confused and frustrated.
Thanks in advance!
Metamucil and Useris

I have yet to see any MC'er see benefit from things like Metamucil.

when we are healing, fibre is not our friend, fibre like metamucil bulks up the stool, which makes it hard work for the body to pass it. It does not reduce the inflammation/ irritation that is causing the MC type diarrhea.

Hello, As most of us can tell you, GI's know little about treating our disease. You have to figure it out on your own. I am in remission by diet alone (with help from this group and Tex's book.) I did take Pepto Bismol tablets for 8 weeks to stop the explosive D but as you're nursing you don't want to do that.

Wednesday night, nocturnal incontinence, explosive D about 4 times. Missed work thursday. No more benefiber.Gabes-Apg wrote:I have yet to see any MC'er see benefit from things like Metamucil.
