yesterday I watched the documentary 'Heal' for anyone on a wellness journey I recommend watching this. (you can rent it from iTunes for $6.00) http://healdocumentary.com/about.html
one part of the doco I was interested in and worthy of sharing here, was presented by Kelly Turner.
Long story short she spent years reviewing cancer cases where people went into 'radical remission' (over 1500 people) there were over 75 different aspects that people did - but there were 9 key ones that most if not ALL the people did;Kelly Turner, PhD is the New York Times bestselling author of Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds, now translated into 20 languages, which summarizes her research into the radical remission of cancer – when someone heals from cancer without Western medicine or after Western medicine has failed.
Over the past decade, she has conducted research in 10 different countries and analyzed over 1,500 cases of radical remission. She is a frequent guest on The Dr. Oz Show and holds a B.A. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Most recently, Kelly has adapted her bestselling book into a fictional, feature-length screenplay entitled OPEN-ENDED TICKET. Kelly is also working on a 9-part docuseries that will cover each of the 9 healing factors from her research, and is the founder of the Radical Remission Project,
- radically changing diet
- taking control of health
- follow your intiution
- herbs/supplements
- releasing suppressed emotions
- increasing positive emotions
- embracing social support
- deepening spiritual connection
- have a strong reason for living
7 of the 9 are about the mental/emotional aspects of healing.
The other key message of the documentary that the functional practitioners agree on - current health system is geared towards 'Acute care' if you are acutely ill then hospital is the best place. Functional medicine can not help a stab wound or burst appendix etc. The health system is not geared up for chronic illnesses, where time is needed to confirm root cause and treat root cause.
I did this post that for the people that are focussing on Diet, Supps, Medications and not healing or progressing as well as they would like, stop breathe and look at the mental and emotional aspects of your healing journey...
