I have been recently diagnosed with CC after having more frequent diarrhea episodes. I’m 32. I noticed by eliminating lactose I was feeling better. I wasn’t even going to the bathroom every day, it could be days before I go. I also tried Metamucil which may have helped bulk. When I was diagnosed the dr said the treatment would be first step pepto bismol, then asa 5 pills, then steroid. I wasn’t having diarrhea symptoms so I didn’t even bother with pepto, just continued avoiding lactose.
That same day I got my period. I don’t have period problems though so I don’t know if these symptoms are related to Cc, my period or something else. I started having bad pelvic and hip pain, it travels, actually on the bones, in the left side. I went to my dr and she said maybe you have a cyst. She pressed hard and intensified the pain even more so I went to the ER where they did an ultra sound, blood work and urine, all normal. They gave me morphine and Percocet which didn’t help. I said to the dr how can my pain be so severe? Could my bowels be inflamed? So they did a CT scan, all normal. The dr asked me if I’m a dancer. I do dance and based on where I was pointing he thought that maybe I injured myself, it’s muscular and will go away.
I’m still in pain. Yesterday I went out and I’m not sure if I ate something that didn’t agree with me but I had some looser stools this morning, went three times. I took pepto bismol, Metamucil, probiotic, buscopqn for cramping. Like I said, I have been avoiding lactose and extra caffeine. I’m still trying to see what other foods disagree with me. I have not given up gluten, maybe I should for a few days and see.
This hip and pelvic pain is only on my left side. My actual bones hurt so it is quite possibly a muscular injury. Hurts to sir walk etc. The pain is more throbbing pain sometimes burning.

Hi Laura,
I know when I used to have monthly cycles (three years ago and beyond) my ovaries would hurt like the dickens, and sometimes it would be the left sometimes the right.
If you get done with your cycle and the left side continues with pain then it could be the sigmoid colon and CC giving you fits. Have you had regular bathroom visits or have you felt a bit constipated before this cycle and a bit during? For me that was a 'normal' cycle so you need to find comfort where you can and then see how the body reacts after the cycle before any one can really give more insight.
Since this is recent diagnosis how are you addressing your Magnesium and VitD intake? Too much pain is associated with not enough Magnesium in the cells and we need VitD levels adequate enough to allow that magnesium to get in there and work for us. I would address this while I was on my cycle.
As far as the gluten, it is most likely what has given you your CC diagnosis so I highly suggest removing it from your diet for life, and it has a 1/2 life so it can take anywhere from a few months to a year to completely leave the body. You wont be able to just not eat if for a few days and notice a difference unfortunately. Luckily if you had any other sensitivities to other proteins (Dairy, Soy, Egg) once you stopped eating them they would have a 6 day process for leaving the body so you would be able to tell rather soon if they were affecting you.
I hope you feel better soon, and keep asking questions
