Soy free chicken eggs

Post by LauraAnn »

I have tried to see if anyone had discussed soy free eggs previously and came up with nothing. Has anyone tried these with success? They claim to be a solution for people with “egg allergies “. I’m willing to try them, but am curious if others have given this a try yet.

Hi Laura,

Since I reacted to the chicken egg protein from Entrolab, I have been using Duck egg....I have not investigated whether the local farmer uses any type of soy in their feed yet but I seem to be able to bake with them ok, and I don't feel like I am reacting to them.

Not sure this answers your question, but due to the reactivity of the chicken egg protein I'm not sure if them being soy free would have any bearing on not reacting at that point.

I too have eaten duck eggs with success, but haven’t been able to find any for awhile and switched to quail eggs with no problem. Except they are very expensive. Thought maybe the soy free chickens might be another alternative  Just looking for an easy way to shop for the basics!

I tried soy free chicken eggs. At first I thought they were working but eventually that changed and I started reacting to them. I also tried duck eggs, several years after eliminating chicken eggs, and reacted to them as well. I've simply come to the understanding that I can't eat eggs of any kind. I can live with that.

Jean,

Are you able to eat baked eggs? I have been wanting to try a gluten free bread and most have eggs in them. I'm just wondering what your experiences were with GF bread.

Thank-you - I hope all is well!

Pam,

I don’t eat any baked goods including no gf bread. I live mostly on meat, fish and low carb veggies.

Pam, before I was in remission I found that while I could not eat eggs- scrambled, boiled, fried- I could actually tolerate them baked into a gf muffin (like the Morning Glory muffin). What I understand is that the prolonged heat neutralizes the protein we tend to react to. I ate the muffins 3-4 times a week with no problems.

apologies that i am late to chime in to this discussion

I struggle with eggs where the chickens have been fed high amounts of soy.

Here in Australia I have spoken to a few people with chickens. Alot of 'gluten free' feeds are high in soy.
quite a few of the farmers said that high soy food is not good for the chickens, it impacts their health.

there was a previous discussion here about how farmed fish like salmon is fed high soy content food and that some people react to this.

Carol, I have not heard about the baked egg protein. Very interesting. I have actually experimented a couple of times with my salmon patties that use just one egg and I used a chicken egg without problems arising. Also used it in cornbread once. I think you have something there.
