OMAD diet

Post by henrym »

Lately I’ve been hearing a lot about the ‘One meal a day’ (OMAD) diet. It supposed to be good for people with colitis. The idea behind it is to give your body more time to heal in between meals. In this case 23 hours.
Just wondering if anyone here has experience with the OMAD diet?

Hi Henry,

I kind of wonder how successful that type of diet would be because our ability to produce normal amounts of digestive enzymes is compromised when the disease is active, so most of us do better with smaller, more frequent meals when we're reacting. After we're in remission it shouldn't matter nearly as much, if at all.

Maybe someone who has tried fasting will chime in.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

my approach has been listen to your body.

During inflammation stage and once i have healed I listen to my body.
there are days that I only eat one or two small snack size meals.
there are others where I have three larger meals through the day.

currently i follow a keto based approach to eating, and part of this is that once or twice a week I will fast in the morning, have large meal about 2pm, and then small supper snack about 6pm.

i only do this if I feel like it. If i start the fast and by 11am I am hungry, I eat.
everyone is different, each day is different, so listening to your body is best approach.
