Reaction to D'Mannose and Other

Post by jlbattin »

So, I was pretty excited at the thought of being able to go back to water aerobics this summer and sadly, I've only managed to be able to go about once a week and a few times twice. I feel like I take one step forward and five backwards. The nature of this beast, I guess.

First of all, I thought I was fighting a bladder infection so decided to take some D'Mannose. I found one that was gluten, dairy, and soy free, and had been taking it just a few days when one morning, I was sitting here waiting to go to water aerobics and I felt hot and flushed. I looked down and noticed that I had a rash on my arms. On further examination, I had a rash over my entire body. I was miserable. I quickly took a Benadryl and slept for a couple of hours or so and when I woke up, it was mostly gone. I didn't take it any more after that. Haven't had a problem since.

I had noticed that when I did go swimming, I was itchier than I remembered ever being before. They don't use chlorine; it's ozone treated. I have had a time with my allergies this summer. They have been worse than ever before and I just chalked it up to another side effect of the MC. I have extremely sensitive skin and have to be very careful. Since MC, it seems to be more sensitive than ever.

Now, I'm dealing with major dental issues. I'm getting ready to have 4 permanent crowns put on, but while waiting another tooth decided to give me fits and so I'm facing a root canal this afternoon before the permanent crowns. Oh JOY! The pain from the tooth has kept me down for almost a week now. I just wasn't able to get in before today.

So, if it's not the MC acting up, it's something else! LOL! It never ends. Otherwise, I have been doing very well with my diet and keeping things under control. In fact, I'm at the point that I have to really watch what I eat so I don't put on any weight! That's a good thing, I guess, cause that means that my body is utilizing everything the way it's supposed to.

Anyway, just wanted to give an update. Hope all of you are doing well!

Thanks for the warning about an allergic reaction to D-mannose. That's the first incident I've heard of, but it just goes to show that it's possible to have a reaction to just about anything.

:iagree: It didn't seem to be a problem early on, but now that I have been in remission for a while, the problem seems to be getting increasingly worse for me. Early on, I didn't seem to react to anything (that caused a histamine reaction). I even lost my pre-existing pollen allergy for a few years. (I posted about that years ago). Then my immune system came back to life and histamine is becoming a bigger problem for me with each passing year.

Watch for signs of a magnesium deficiency if you're having to undergo a round or two of antibiotics because of the root canal. When I went through that process several years ago, Bactrim depleted what was left of my magnesium reserves so completely by the second course that I had severe (and I do mean severe) magnesium deficiency symptoms until I figured out the problem. The doctors didn't have a clue what was wrong.

Good luck with the procedure.

Good Luck Jari,

Also in place of D-mannose I believe the Nano Silver would work perfectly! rxsilver.com check it out....I'm serious, the results I am seeing from myself and family are truly uplifting when it comes to 'other' ailments that seem to follow MC. No rash, no reactions....no histamine issues what so ever with the silver.

On the dental front using the silver to swish in the mouth will keep bacteria at bay and then you swallow it and it continues to keep kicking bad bacteria to the curb as it works internally. The use of S Boulardii has been a game changer using it along side of the silver solution.

I notice I use less antihistamines during the Summer than I have in the past since I started using the silver/boulardii protocol, and that urinary bacteria can be a real pain literally! Here is the pdf on the types of ways silver can aide in healing https://www.readyman.com/pages/silver-n ... ral-healer

Here's to feeling better and getting through the dental procedures!

Hi, Jari. Nice to hear from you and I'm glad you're doing well diet-wise. I feel for you with the dental issues. This disease is causing issues for me, too. I didn't have a cavity for years and now it seems that every time I go I need work done. I hope your issues resolve soon.

Erica, I just ordered Nano Silver two days ago. I had a tooth filled last week near the gum line and I wanted to get the silver to swish it around my mouth as you described with the hope that I won't get an infection. I wish I would have ordered it sooner.

It's so nice to be able to come here to discuss these things with people who understand this complex disease.

Thanks Tex, for the heads up! I will increase my magnesium for a few days.

Well, I got there and the tooth was abscessed! Just lovely! No wonder I had been feeling so crappy! Did the root canal (but didn't get my permanent crowns on). Wasn't able to finish it because he put medicine in the tooth and prescribed a Z Pack antibiotic. Go back in about 10 days to finish up (and of course, this involves a new crown on the tooth that was abscessed which will make a total of 5 this summer!) Gave me vicodin for pain and I don't normally need pain medicine but I did last night. Slept very well, but woke up this morning with a killer headache so will not take any more of it!

Erica, when you have time, could you send me the info on the silver? (which one you ordered and how you take it). I'm open to anything, and Marcia, I'll be interested to see how you do with it also.

I'm back to bed for awhile. Have a great day everyone!
