In remission after H pylori treatment !!!!

Post by sonja »

Hi all,

In january I posted about my infection with H. pylori and thank you once more for your reactions.

I toke two antibiotics for a week and I felt sick and miserable during that week.
Pain everywhere, especially in oesophagus, stomach and gut. I could only be in bed or on the couch.
I really wanted the antibiotics to be successful and that's why I sticked to my very strict diet with lots of bone broth and I took good probiotics (Solgar) for a few weeks.
The first two weeks after the antibiotics the problems with my stomach continued, also due to the PPI I think now. I discontinued them rather soon.
Now, more than two months later I notice that my stools are solid since the treatment (never had that before since the start of my LC, only incidentally). I don't have stomach pain anymore. The pain I had very often in my back, left under my shoulder blade and which I linked to my food, but I did not know how exactly it was related, didn't come back since then!
It looks like I am finally really in remission. I hardly can believe it.
I wonder: is this the consequence of the fact that I have 'reset' my gut bacteria by destroying them all and add only good bacteria (probiotica and sticking to my save diet) or is this maybe the consequence of the loss of the H. pylori? I think if this bacteria causes stomach problems, it will probably also cause problems in the intestines.
Maybe it is a combination of this two things, but I'm really glad.
[not only good news after the antibiotics: my hormons are out of balance and I developed severe muscleproblems in my neck]

Just like Erica with the eggs, this remission opens unexpected new perspectives for me and I am excited because of this possibility!
The last two weeks I succeeded to eat some salad without problems!
This morning I took a coffee, which I still miss daily, to try if I can tolerate this now. No stomach problems, but I have to wait one day, because normally coffee gives me osteoarthritis problems after one day and d or loose stools after two days.
Any way I am very excited and wanted to share this good news of remission with you.
I am curious if anyone had similar experiences after treating h. pylori or heavy antibiotics in combination with probiotics or has an idea about the cause of my remission. I would very appreciate to hear your opinion.

Hi Sonja :-)

I am really glad to hear that one piece of your puzzle is a positive one for you!

Another piece that may help moving forward is S. Boulardii (it is a vegan prebiotic and very helpful to maintain good gut bacteria) another item is the Nano Silver or (Silver Biotics) rxsilver.com I have witnessed its healing and I'd encourage you to research it as I think it would be a good fit after your treatment for h.pylori ;-)

You've had a longer healing period based on longevity of time you have been on this forum than I so I would think you have been very close to creating better formed stools but the bacteria levels just haven't been right for you....perhaps now they are! If this is the case then you are like me and with the maintenance of S. Boulardii and Silver I am maintaining pretty well finally. I did just learn that histamine can kick my butt at any time though.

I think you've reached a turning point....not saying we don't have up and down days....but they sure are a lot better now.

Congratulations, Sonja,

It's great to hear that you're doing so well now. I think it's possible that the H. pylori might have prevented your remission, because it kept your stomach inflamed. An inflamed stomach is not likely to digest food as well as it should, so your intestines would not have been able to digest the food properly, either.

I hope your remission continues forever.
