very quiet now

Post by Liz »

It is Boxing Day here now & Luke & Emily have gone to spend time with their father. Jane has gone home too. She is taking the opportunity of having a good cleanout before she goes back to work next week. It is quiet now with just the 2 of us here. Nikki came for Christmas lunch yesterday. She gave me a lovely little clock in the shape of a sewing machine. Very cute. Can't think where she got the idea from    You would think that I may do a little bit of sewing from time to time.
Anyway we all had a nice day. Judy rang from New Zealand & we all were ab e to have a chat. Going to call her back today & have a bit longer talk.

Love

It sounds as though your Christmas went pretty smoothly. Things are beginning to wind down around here, also.

Since much of Texas is having extreme drought conditions, a burn ban is in effect, so there isn't nearly as much fireworks going off as there normally would be. If this is a symbol of things to come, New Years Eve may seem eerily quiet this year.

Since this country doesn't observe Boxing Day, I reckon we'll have to go to work, tomorrow. Sigh.

Love,
Wayne

P S That was a clever gift from Nikki.

Hi Wayne

We don't normally have fireworks at Christmas, only New Year. There are fire bans in much of Australia at the moment & we have fairly tight water restrictions as well. If we don't get good rain soon they are going to be tightened even further.

Nikki had the gift for me for some time & was itching to ive it but managed to contain herself until Christmas.

She is a real sweetie. She has just shifted into a unit with couple of girlfriends on Thursday so will be learning more about what life is about I expect.
