Swollen Lymph Nodes?

Post by A lot of work ahead of me »

Just checking here to see if anyone else has had this going on while in recovery?

I can feel swollen lymph nodes in collar bone area and groin (pea size). I also feel weak - not sleepy tired - just weak like I feel the best sitting or laying down.

Not sure if it's part of this or the Budesonide or somethine else brewing. I don't have a cold or the flu (yet anyway).

The doctors in my world are absolutely no help right now.

Thanks!

Hi Jeanine,

Yes, that's very common with active MC. I especially noticed the swollen lymph glands under my jaws and in my neck but they can probably be affected anywhere in the body. And weakness and fatigue are also common symptoms. Hopefully those swollen lymph glands will soon begin to fade away as the diet begins to heal your digestive system.

The budesonide should help to reduce fatigue (since it boosts cortisol). It makes a lot of people hyperactive. You might be having a reaction of some sort to it. Does anyone else have any insight here, based on experience?

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks Tex.

You are right about Budesonide making me hyper - moreso in the afternoons - my place of work loves the extra output right now-lol. Mornings I am a teensie "out of it". I am on month three of the med and I keep telling my doctor yes, the D is better and my stomach is nice and flat for once BUT I do not feel "healed" as I periodically still have an accident (had an egg-pooped pants 24 hours later) and my daily BMs seem to be one step away from going backwards.

Glad (well not glad) to hear that the lymph nodes might just be related to this whole MC thing going on and not something new.

You are so helpful to me-one email answered my questions. The so-called doctors leave a vague response and say

"go see your primary care doctor asap for the lymph nodes as that would not be related to MC at all." (emailed me). Idiots

Hi Jeanine (and Tex),
I also had swollen lymph nodes and most notably when I was dealing with LC and something additional that was taxing my immune system like seasonal allergies or sinusitis (which would bring on tonsillitis). I’m sure this was true when I was on Budesonide as well. Fatigue is a feature of inflammation and a struggling immune system, in my opinion. It takes a lot of energy to heal. It’s hard to pace yourself but adequate rest is crucial to getting better. I still deal with fatigue more often than I think I should, but not to the degree that I did prior to remission.

Hope this helps,
Carol

Thanks Carol,

Makes me feel a bit of relief to hear this. I was sortof worried. I have been having a hard time for a couple weeks with the just plain old weakness. Not tired, but more like my body feels tired. That's when I noticed the swollen lymph nodes. I agree with the rest part. I was able to just sleep for a good 9 hours the other night and felt pretty darn good for the next day. I can just tell my poor body wants to repair and is chugging along but like you say, it really is a challenge when you have to deal with life - work - overtime, dog, life, family. I am trying to say no to more things and just listen to my body.
