SCD diet for lymphocytic colitis
Years ago I was on the SCD diet, and around the 2nd week was still having problems with diarrhea. At that time, I added in the SCD yogurt which has a ton of certain strains of bacteria (you make it yourself). I no longer had diarrhea. Not sure if it needed to be in combination with the diet, so this time around, I'm going back on the yogurt without much dietary change (though I have recently cut out all gluten due to rheumatoid arthritis which is something new I've been dealing with) to see if the probiotics make the majority of the difference. I guess some "good" bacteria stay in the gut causing problems versus aiding in digestion, so this yogurt contains 3 types that do not. Bifidus is the one they recommend staying away from. I'll update with results.
Re: SCD diet for lymphocytic colitis
Hi, I replied to this post because its the first time anyone has mentioned they can tolerate yogurt. I am newly diagnosed with Lymphocytic colitis and found greek yogurt helpful. I improved on toast, yogurt and organic chicken broth. I improved more after the colonoscopy. I wonder if that was because I really had no food at all for nearly 48hrs. I really haven't eaten much bread for years and stopped the toast. I have been adding chicken and pork and potato or white jasmine rice but now having constipation along with liquid stool. So far from getting a handle on this disease.
Re: SCD diet for lymphocytic colitis
Sometimes the cleanout solution required for a colonoscopy will bring remission for a few days to a couple of weeks, simply because it flushes out all the reactive foods.
Yogurt is loaded with casein, and most of us react to casein. You probably won't be able to tell for sure what foods cause you to react, because gluten will dominate your immune system reactinos until you get most of it ut of your system, which takes a month or so. Gluten antibodies (anti-gliadin antibodies) have a half-life of 120 days, whereas antibodies to most food-sensitivities have a half-life of only 5 or 6 days.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thank you Tex. I am ordering your book today, maybe I can help someone else someday.
