December 2018 I had a compression fracture and a kyphoplasty. (bone cement) Almost a year to the day, December 2019 I had another one, really bad, another kyphoplasty in January. Primary sent me to an Endocrinologist who immediately wanted to put me on drugs. I had been taking 3 algaecal a day since July 2019, had also improved my diet to include lots more Calcium. When this happened, upped it to 4 algaecal a day. My orthopedic was pretty sure I had cancer, he said my ribs on the MRI looked like they were moth eaten. He was sure I had multiple myeloma, sent me to an oncologist who ordered a Pet Scan. Negative for cancer but extremely bad osteoporosis. She deals with a lot of cancer patients whose chemo has caused it and has a lot of patients who are given the twice a year injections of Prolia with good success and minimal side effects.
I remember someone once said they were using the Save Institute protocol. I've been reading a lot of their information, but boy do they ever run down every single drug out there, which scares me to death. I think Savers have a lot of recipes I couldn't use due to sensitivities , and exercises that would prolly break something else really fast.
Any words of wisdom for me?
So far my 10,000 residents in Rossmoor (55 and over) are well because the management jumped right in and took strong measures before everyone else started it. Let's face it, we're all in the vulnerable age group.
Hope everyone is well. Looks like Tex et all were well aware of what the potential of corona would develop into.

Bev, have you read up on strontium? Understand it is controversial.
http://strontiumforbones.blogspot.com/2 ... nates.html
I think she has most of the studies on strontium listed.
Be aware strontium is controversial in some circles.
If you ignore the mentions of supplements I think Dr. Keith McCormick's blog is good.https://www.osteonaturals.com/blog/
He also has a book. He got osteoporois as a 40 year old man. He is not a MD I believe he is a chiropracter.
Dr. McCormick himself had to go on meds for awhile as his osteoporosis was very severe. He thinks there is a place for meds.
He is anti strontium.
I've taken strontium and it did not affect my MC. Year 1 no strontium, did weight lifting. Year 2 did weight lifting and did 6 months 680 mg of strontium. I had bone density gains at 2 year dexa end of year 2. Year 3 did weight lifting and no strontium, Year 4 did weight lifting and a half dose 340 mg of strontium for 12 months. I just had gains at 2 year dexa.
Note, weight lifting can be problematic if you have fractures, consult your doctor.
I focus on my MC diet as I don't really have a choice. If you consider strontium (again controversial) I found I was able to tolerate it but I take it with food.

Thanks so much for your reply, Brandy. I am aware of strontium, have researched it, but have seen a couple of references to clotting problems--I had a small stroke in 2015 so was concerned about that. I think it's the renalate form which I don't think is available in the U. S. But still--- I asked one of the primary docs in my clinic and it was "never heard of it" They don't want their patients to stray from the stuff doctors understand--drugs!
Because of the age, a lot of the information had been removed from the blog, but the info tallies with what I'd been learning. Algaecal, which is about $70 for a one month supply, offers a money back guarantee, but they require for you to take their brand of strontium citrate as well, also quite expensive.
Thanks again Brandy for posting.
