Butyric Acid supplement

Post by annaewa56 »

My functional medicine doctor has me taking EnteroVite (vitamin, mineral & fatty acid supplement)
Have any of you tried this supplement? Does it help with healing from MC?

EnteroVite™ represents the latest science in microbiota-related supplementation. It delivers short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)—the natural end products (postbiotics) of complex carbohydrate digestion by enteric bacteria. An increasing number of studies demonstrate the broad and profound effects of SCFAs locally, in intestinal mucosal health and microbiota diversity, and systemically, as molecular messengers.*

Features

Uses calcium beta-hydroxy beta-methyl butyrate, a form of butyrate, for maximum butyric acid delivery
No sodium hydroxylate (lye), which is often incorporated with sodium butyrate
Delivers not only butyrate but also propionate and acetate for broader activities

Benefits

Supports microbiome diversity and the health and function of intestinal epithelial cells*
Supports intestinal tight junction protein synthesis, which is critical to intestinal barrier function*
Supports colonic T-regulatory cell activity and immune homeostasis to encourage immune tolerance*
Supports energy metabolism*
Supports NF-kappaB signaling and cytokine production associated with good health*

Anna,

Are you in remission? Or trying to get into remission?

I find that when I am in a flare that I have to eliminate oral supplements and stick to the few foods diet and allow time to heal. That is just my experience as I know we are all different.

Anna- I started taking this exact supplement last week. I take 2 about 30 minutes before eating. I will probably up this to 4 a day. I think it does help me, not a magic bullet though.

My functional practitioner recommended it after a stool test showed very low short chain fatty acid levels. I was on another brand prior to this one but he feels most patients like this EnteroVite brand better.

Love your kitty cat picture!

I am in a flare up still, day 55.
Eliminated all foods which trigger immune system from 2014 EnteroLab testing.
Looks like stopping all supplements including digestive enzymes and HCL are my next step.
Thank you for your input.
