Is there soy hidden in lotion?

Post by MomLady »

I seem to recall having read somewhere on this board that one must be careful of hidden soy in lotions, etc. This week while trying to avert my eyes from all the pumpkin-licious baked goods and such at Trader Joe's, I attempted to console myself with their pumpkin body butter lotion. At home, I saw the tiny type of ingredients listed tocopheryl acetate (Vit E). Is that a soy suspect? I have used this lotion in the past (coconut scent) and wasn't aware of any issues, but I also wasn't on the MC recovery path at the time. There needs to be some pumpkin joy in Mudville, please!

It might. It can be made with any vegetable oil. Usually, corn oil or soy oil are used. It's usually a very small amount, so it might not bother you.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks so much for the fast reply. Good to know. I wasn't sure how hard core to be - I assume if one sees soybean oil listed in a lip balm, that would be no-go, right?

It would be for me, and probably most of us.
