Potassium - prescribed by doctor

Post by Joy Adcock »

:noevil: Hi! I was wondering if anyone else is having to take prescription strength Potassium, because of your colitis? I have been taking it, for over 5 years now. Thanks Joy

Way back before I figured out how to control this disease, and changed my diet, i ended up in the ER a couple of times. Each time, the ER doc diagnosed a deficiency, and prescribed a potassium supplement. But the prescriptions were only for two-week treatments. Since changing my diet, and recovering, my potassium level has always been in the normal range. Maybe you have a genetic issue that interferes with potassium absorption.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
