Pyroluria, Wilson's, copper

Post by Ren »

Is it possible to have copper toxicity when urine test for copper comes back at less than 5, which is the minimum reportable value?

Is it possible to have Wilson's with copper urine at this level?

My ceruloplasmin is low, serum copper is low. Zinc and b6 are lower but not low. They have periodically dropped to low over the years.

I took a pyyrole test 1.3 yrs ago, one came back at 2, the other at 14. I asked my doc, not familiar with pyroluria to test. The lab doing it didn't know what it was, so who knows if they even handled it right.

I have symptoms of low copper and copper toxicity. I strongly suspect pyroluria, and have experienced the bulk of symptoms stretched out my entire life. But, this could just be the usual malabsorption.

I have an appt april 30 with a g.i. hepatologist for Wilson's, and hopefully nutrient testing and specialty dietician. As with most regular doctors, I expect nothing.

I have another appt with a homeopathic doctor may 9th, who is also trained in the Whal's protocol for pyroluria. That of course is $1000 for two appts, NOT including testing. If anyone has a doc that treats this and does online appts, please let me know.

I'm not taking psych drugs, but my doc thinks gabapentin could help. I'm taking small amounts of xanax when psych and neurological symptoms hit hard. If you're familiar with this condition, then you know how hard I mean. I have extreme joint pain, along with other copper deficiency symptoms.

My doctor doesn't want me to take copper until we know what's going on, but my copper is still dropping, probably from the iron I'm taking for the anemia.

If you have any suggestions, please help. I feel like I'm losing my mind and barely hanging on, with no help.
