GI specialist

Post by IrishColleen »

So, my rural GP and the surgeon that did my colonoscopy have punted referring me to a specialist. Anyone that can recommend one in Minnesota (preferably in the cities) would be appreciated. Have an appointment with an unknown at Fairview, but not until June… and it’s a tele-appointment. She doesn’t make the GI specialist page for the place. I can’t find anything on her.
Recommendations?

I have a recommendation. Dr. James Wise. University of MN / Fairview.

Dr. Wise was the GI doctor that initially performed my colonoscopy and diagnosis of Microscopic Colitis when he was practicing at CentraCare GI clinic in St. Cloud MN.

I don't make these recommendations often or take it lightly. Many GI doctors are kind of clueless when it comes to Microscopic Colitis. But Dr. Wise is very sharp and understands the importance of diet and how to best use Budesonide (correct dosage with a very slow taper off of it) to get MC under control. Dr. Wise studied under Dr. Darrell Pardi, one of the nations leading experts on MC at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. If you go on YouTube, you can watch some videos of Dr. Pardi. What we did was basically adopt Dr. Pardi's MC treatment strategy and it has worked extremely well for me.

Dr. Wise is a great listener. He doesn't just hear you. He listens to you. That trait can be kind of rare when seeing a doctor nowadays. I highly recommend him. All the best to you and please keep us updated!
